ABOUT LARRY

A native of Santa Cruz, CA., bassist, vocalist, composer and producer Larry Antonino is one of the most innovative figures on the soft rock and contemporary jazz scene today.  His distinctively fresh, new sound has been described as exciting and just plain old funky.

Now based in Southern California, Larry’s contribution to the Los Angeles music scene includes live performances and recordings with pop and rock staples Pablo Cruise, Air Supply, Barry Manilow, Jeff Beck, Michael McDonald, Shelby Lynne, Chaka Khan, David Foster, The Pointer Sisters, Bobby Caldwell, Al Jarreau, Gary Wright, Steve Lukather, Jeffrey Osborne, Macy Gray, Ricky Martin, Mos Def, as well as contemporary jazz veterans such as Ronnie Laws, The Jazz Crusaders, Steve Oliver, Jeff Kashiwa, and Freddie Ravel.

Larry is an accomplished composer in many styles as well. In addition to the songs on his solo releases, he has written songs for Air Supply and Ronnie Laws.

On the big screen, Larry played the part of bassist Scott “Wolfman” Pell in the feature film “That Thing You Do” with Tom Hanks (for which he earned a gold record). He can also be seen in “Playing By Heart” and the television shows “General Hospital” and “Beverly Hills 90210”.

Larry’s first solo album “Village Strut” was released in 2001 and features Steve Oliver, Rob Mullins, Freddie Ravel, Grant Geissman, Dave Hopper, and Ron Pedley and other notables.

In 2023, despite having a busy touring schedule with Pablo Cruise, Steve Oliver, and others, Larry started releasing his own music more regularly. The singles “Seacliff Beach” (an instrumental funk / jazz hit) and “Wrong Way Back” (an uptempo rock jam reminiscent of Toto and Kenny Loggins) were released on the VNL Records label along with his second full length pop rock album titled “State of the Heart”. A holiday single release titled “What Christmas Means to Me” ended a prolific year.

In early 2024, Larry released a contemporary jazz single titled “Drive Time” which features saxophonist Herbie Kae and has received considerable airplay on smooth jazz radio.
